Simon
Stranger Danger

Simon is a bloodhound who wants to be a good search and rescue dog. Only one problem- he keeps getting lost!

Learning how to be safer while out hiking is the idea behind the inter-active puppet show "Don't Run Around, Stay Found". Pam Medhurst and Simon come to schools, youth groups and campfire programs to spread the word of staying safe while on a hike in the woods, a day at the park or even a neighborhood stroll. Pam wrote the program two years ago after realizing that kids would listen and remember a message much better if a dog told the story. Simon relates well with both kids and adults. The program covers what to carry while out hiking, tips to stay safe, what to do if you get lost and a chance to ask questions. Pam Medhurst and Simon received a channel 10 Leadership Award in 2001 for their program. "Don't Run around, Stay Found" is a 30-40 minute show which can be booked by calling the San Diego Sheriff's Search and Rescue Office at 619-956-4990, or e-mail Simon at DeputySimon@AOL.com. This free program works well with children ages 4 -10.
